Toppan iDGate ranks among the Top 20 most accurate in the latest NIST 1:1 Face Recognition Vendor Test
Taiwan, October 28, 2021 – Toppan iDGate, a Toppan Company, and Taiwan-based advanced payment authentication solutions provider has been named among the top 20 in the latest benchmark 1:1 Face Recognition Vendor Tests (FRVT) performed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) at the United States Department of Commerce, a leading organization in the biometric arena for testing and development of international biometric standards.
Acknowledged to be the gold benchmarking evaluation in the global biometrics industry, the NIST Face Recognition Vendor Test (FRVT) is a series of large-scale independent performance evaluations for automated face recognition systems for civil, law enforcement and homeland security applications. The FRVT 1:1 verification evaluation, which Toppan iDGate has participated in, measures accuracy and resource performance during the comparisons among visa, border crossing and mugshot images..
Out of the 361 participant entries in the latest FRVT 1:1 Verification evaluation, Toppan iDGate successfully ranks among the Top 20 most accurate Face recognition solutions vendors. In line with the evaluation, iDGate receives rank #12 in the mugshot photos 12+ years, a test that measures the accuracy comparing among mugshot photos that are at least 12 years apart.
Commenting on this achievement, Kersey Shang, Managing Director of Toppan iDGate said: “Our strong commitment to accuracy and forward-thinking technology empowers us to design highly secure face recognition solutions.” He added, “Being counted among the Top 20 in the FRVT 1:1 test and #12 in the MUGSHOT comparisons after at least 12 years, further confirms that our research and development efforts are on the right track towards solving the challenges our bank customers are facing during eKYC processes.”
Today the common way to confirm an unknown identity often requires comparing a live photo with a more than 10 years old photo image on the ID card or passport. Thanks to iDGate’s advanced facial biometric algorithms and identity authentication solutions, client on-boarding teams can assure their customer’s identities.
